McNab - Bonnie (private Adoption) - Medium - Young - Female
Thank you for viewing an animal from Companion Animal Foundation today! Private Adoption Private Adoption: Bonnie is a spayed female McNab cross who is approximately 20 months old and up to date on her shots. Bonnie and her pal Clyde were saved from the mean streets of Houston by their current guardian who must now find a home for Bonnie as soon as possible. She has worked very hard to rehab Bonnie from the starved and sick girl she once was and now needs to find a home for Bonnie where the training she started can continue. We will let her tell you about Bonnie: Bonnie is super smart (more than any of 8 dogs I've owned or cared for/trained), independent, and affectionate (will sleep alone or lay her head gently on your feet at night). She is an indoor dog. Her ears get cold easy and she strongly prefers companionship. She has been fine with children met in parks though hasn't lived with them. Bonnie has been a bit food aggressive, but I kept taking juicy bones from her until she stopped growling at me and she never nipped. She will still growl at another dog sometimes if they are close to food on floor or her bone. She will likely always be resourceful and needs to have dog proof garbage cans as she ate anything to survive while an urban stray for over a month as a pup. Bonnies education already includes: 8 agility courses Lots of dog park and doggy day care experience Potty trained Heal Look at me Sit (and hand-signal for this too) Lay down (and hand-signal for this too) Turn around (and hand-signal for this too) Drop ball (she loves fetch and is a bit reluctant to let go of the ball and in fact can entertain herself with a ball for a while before getting bored) Stay (and hand-signal for this too) Under Clyde (she goes underneath her dog buddy Clyde who she lived on the streets of Houston with for many weeks - I think shed do this trick with any large dog) Around Clyde (you guessed it, she circles Clyde) She will lay her head on a human couch or bed, chair, etc., and wait for permission to get up (I like to have a sheet on furniture before dog gets on - she'll need a refresher as I've been house-sitting where there isn't furniture accessible to dogs). Bring it to me. (Point to an item. Her food dish is her favorite to bring so you'll fill it up) Bonnie needs: A fenced area as she has a strong chase instance and has gone after a cat as well as a pickup with a barking dog in back and she ignored streets and traffic to do so. Until she feels stable and secure she will try to dig out of yard but otherwise does not dig. She has been left alone in apartment with her dog buddy Clyde only and for short periods of time so she needs some training in that regard. Food free floor, etc. as she will likely eat till she bursts if allowed. She no longer chews stuff in car which she used to. She needs a barrier though if you don't want her in front seat where she may chew if left alone. A cat, bunny, duck, and/or bird free home. An active owner who will do agility, ball tossing and/or jogging with her. A patient owner who will work on her separation anxiety and lives where her distinctive yelp can be endured if she is left alonesomething I have started training her with and she is so much better as she used to yelp in car even with her dog buddy Clyde with her but she no longer does that. I am willing and actually wanting to transition her to new home. Foster home, co-owner during day, or new home immediately (next week or two) as I have new job caring for someone healing for next many months from surgery who cannot have an active dog around that they might trip over. If you would like to meet Bonnie or learn more about her, please contact Moriah at 707-299-xxxx. Local adoptions only, please. This animal is not adopted through or housed at Companion Animal Foundation (CAF). This animal is posted for a private community member. Please do not contact CAF with questions, please contact the owner directly, thank you! This is a courtesy listing. Remember to check back weekly as we do get in new animals.
